HDC Recruitment Insights

Minor Accident & Illness Centre, Morayfield

The importance of urgent care clinics to the Queensland Healthcare system is a discussion topic on everyone’s lips. Urgent care clinics help to ensure healthcare is readily accessible at the time and place it is needed most. Urgent Care clinics play a crucial role in supporting the local hospital emergency departments, by supporting the community, treating non-life threatening conditions.

HDC Recruitment are excited to share the re-opening of the Minor Accident & Illness Centre (MAIC) at Morayfield.  MAIC was one of the first urgent care clinics rolled out nationally in 2019 under the leadership and vision of Director, Dr Evan Jones.

MAIC is a state-of-the-art urgent care facility operating with a multi-disciplinary team of general practitioners, emergency medicine specialists, nurse practitioners and nurses. Onsite pathology and laboratory, coupled with onsite x-ray and imaging services ensures patients receive the upmost level of care in an efficient and effective manner. MAIC wait times for patients currently do not exceed more than 10-mintues.

Medical practitioners at MAIC treat non-life-threatening injuries and illnesses from categories 4 to 5, and category 3 on a case-by-case basis. Conditions include respiratory illness, minor fractures and broken bones, burns, eye and ear injuries, lacerations and cuts to name just a few.

MAIC is accredited with the Royal New Zealand College of Urgent Care (RNZCUC).  If Urgent Care is a pathway you wish to follow, Registrar pathway options are available for those interested in becoming a Fellow of the College.  The pathway to fellowship can be faster than you think, with accelerated options and recognised prior learning available.

If you love the excitement and adrenaline rush that urgent care offers, we’d love to hear from you.  Our MAIC team is waiting to welcome you and the best part is, there are no night shifts involved.  MAIC operates between 8:00am and 8:00pm, 7 days per week, 365 days a year.

Rachel and Stephanie would love to chat to see how they can support you and your practice.
